Management Team
L. Eleanor Herriman, MD, MBA
President & CEODr. Herriman is an accomplished physician executive with more than 15 years of experience in medical technology. She helped grow a start-up company (Neuromedical Systems, Inc., now part of Becton-Dickson) developing a clinical diagnostic test using computer imaging through FDA approval and a $100M IPO. She has also worked in biotechnology business development at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and healthcare consulting at Bain & Company.
Dr. Herriman earned her Bachelors degree in electrical engineering at Rice University (Magna Cum Laude), her MD at Baylor College of Medicine, her Anatomic Pathology residency at University of California San Francisco, and her MBA at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business with highest honors.
Gareth Hughes, Ph.D, MBA
Vice President, Science & TechnologyDr. Hughes brings a technical background of biomedical engineering with a focus on micro- and nanotechnology and industry experience ranging from R&D to manufacturing for medical products. Prior to creating Xanapath, Dr. Hughes served as Senior Research Scientist at Lynntech where he helped lead efforts in forging collaborations with industry and academia for commercialization of medical products. As Life Sciences Group Leader at Zyvex Corporation, a nanotechnology company based in Richardson, Texas, Dr. Hughes managed multidisciplinary teams of internal scientists and engineers and external collaborators and helped launch a new product targeted for the life sciences research market. Prior to Zyvex Corporation, he was Director of R&D at Computer Optics Inc., a privately-owned custom optics company serving the medical, industrial and defense industries, where he co-invented the method of manufacture for micromirror arrays, managed hyperspectral imaging projects for high-content cell-based assays, and co-founded a microtechnology subsidiary, Computer Optical Systems.
Dr. Hughes has been awarded two U.S. patents on microtechnology for optical applications and has one patent pending on nanotherapeutics. He is also the author of over twenty articles and an invited book chapter on micro- and nanotechnology for medical applications.
Dr. Hughes holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and a M.B.A., with Honors, in Entrepreneurship from the University of Dallas. He has been invited to participate in numerous workshops and think tanks including the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative on Smart Prosthetics, the Annual Glaucoma Foundation Think Tank, and the NIST U.S. Measurement System Workshop on NanoBiotechnology. He is also actively involved in regional biomedical activities including the Industrial Advisory Board for Biomedical Engineering at University of Texas at Dallas and Co-founder and Board Member of Medical Nanotechnologies, Inc., a Dallas-based targeted cancer therapy company. At the international level, Dr. Hughes is also an editorial board member for the Elsevier journal, Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine.
Adrian Denvir, Ph.D
Technical AdvisorDr. Denvir is a Senior Research Scientist and group leader at Lynntech, Inc. Dr. Denvir’s main research areas include instrument development for molecular diagnostics, medical imaging technologies, new techniques to prevent nosocomial infections, and new technologies for the control of foodborne pathogens. As part of this research portfolio Dr. Denvir and his team have developed and demonstrated a fully automated cell sampling and processing system that was originally developed for NASA for use in the vehicle assembly building; however, this system has been modified for use in detection of biological warfare agents, toxic algae blooms, and pathogens in blood platelets. Dr. Denvir also carried out extensive investigations into the use of gaseous ozone in wound treatment and generating antimicrobial surfaces for catheters and dressings. As a result of this work Lynntech successfully licensed a portion of their ozone technology for medical applications. In 2006, after a long standing collaboration with Dr Garner at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Dr. Denvir co founded the Lynntech Technology Transfer Office in Dallas to assist in technology commercialization. Dr. Denvir has a Bachelors degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry from Coventry University and a Ph.D in Applied Electrochemistry from the University of Southampton.
